PostSubject: Oliver Vandrose's House   Sat Apr 10, 2010 10:36 am

On the edge of the forest, just past the outskirts of town, there's a small two-story house tucked under the canopy of trees like a bird's nest. The siding is a dusty, worn-out blue and the north wall is slowly being taken over by foliage. Each window boasts a pair of rickety shutters, all painted white. The house has a small front porch, almost fallen off with age. Out front is the beginnings of a cobbled-stone pathway that leads to a makeshift dirt-paved driveway.

The interior, however, is a far cry from the ramshackle outside. The hardwood floors gleam with polish; the walls have all been fairly recently refinished and painted, a warm brown. The trim pieces are all white, and in the living room there is an over-sized brown leather couch, a nice flat-screen television (that rarely gets watched), several stainless steel lamps, and various books scattered about somewhat haphazardly. The first floor houses the living room, a small but nice bathroom, and a stainless steel kitchen that looks as if it is brand new and has never been used.

Just across from the living room, off the main hallway, is a staircase that winds up to the second floor, where two bedrooms and another bathroom lay. One bedroom looks almost abandoned, as it once belonged to Oliver's friend and fellow vampire Ross. The other, the one at the front of the house, is Oliver's.

Oliver's room is painted the same warm earthy tones as downstairs, with brass accents instead of the stainless steel used elsewhere. There is a wooden-framed futon along one wall, a large mohagany desk directly across from it. The desk is laden with books, a laptop, a printer, a lamp, and various writing utensils. One wall is lined with bookshelves, and the other houses the one unique piece of the house; a triangular window that takes up most of the wall space. A dark, heavy drape hangs across the window but remains pulled to the side most days.

Oliver Vandrose

The cab finally came to a halt as the dirt driveway petered out. Oliver handed the driver a fifty and then opened the door. His foot squelched slightly as it hit the ground; it was always wetter out here than in town. He grimaced, thinking. He turned back to the interior of the cab to look at Blair.

"It's kind of wet," he said. "Your heels might sink into the ground."

He held a hand out to help her out of the cab; once she was out, Oliver scooped her up into his arms so that she wouldn't ruin her dress or shoes. He supported her weight with one arm and then shut the cab door quickly enough that the driver wouldn't suspect anything strange. As the cab began to back down the driveway slowly (Oliver could hear the driver chuckling quietly to himself, no doubt making assumptions about the two of them) Oliver carried Blair to the porch at a human speed just in case the driver was still watching. Once his feet hit the wooden slats of the porch, he set Blair down gently, and then pushed the door open for her to enter.

Blair Vanderbilt

As the cab pulled over in front of an extremely shabby-looking house, Blair had to resist the urge to wrinkle her nose. Used to luxury, she wanted nothing but the best and this, to say the least, was not it. But then she supposed that they could spend more time in her house in the future. When Oliver mentioned that her heels might get stuck in the ground, she actually did wrinkle her nose – it wasn’t like she couldn’t afford to replace them, but she did like these heels a lot.

However, she couldn’t exactly complain when Oliver basically swept her up into his arms and carried her onto his porch. It was pretty romantic. Very romantic, actually. She liked this – what with all the sneaking around they had to do, her affair with Anthony wasn’t exactly romantic, and, like her relationship with Nate, it was spoiled by her lingering feelings for Oliver. But now they were finally together, and things would work out. They just had to…although a part of her warned her against pinning too many hopes on this working out, since history showed that things usually didn’t work out for Blair, especially when she wanted them to the most. After all, their would-be perfect date was spoiled by her little problem. Stress-induced regurgitation, if you will (she hated the term ‘bulimia,’ or anything like that. Eating disorders were for the weak, and Blair was not weak).

Still, perhaps the night could be salvaged…Blair tried to remember what lingerie she’d worn tonight…Ah, yes, the corset-and-panty set that sucked in her waist just right and pushed up her…assets perfectly. And she had thought to reapply her red lipgloss in the bathroom after throwing up, making her lips look particularly juicy and sexy.

When they were finally up in a bedroom (Oliver’s, she supposed), Blair scanned the room for a bed, but found none. But she supposed that she'd have to make do with what was there. "Oliver," she said to get his attention before reaching up to cup his face and kiss him, first slowly then with increasing intensity. She slammed him into the wall as her hands moved down to slide along his chest. "I wish you had a bed," she murmured into his mouth with a grin before her lips moved down to his neck.

Yes, she was pretty sure the night could be salvaged after all.
